New build flooring in Harrogate

The Initial Enquiry

The clients were known personally to our Managing Director, Phil.  He and Mr Wallace met whilst they were both serving in the army and had maintained their relationship since Phil had formed H2H Flooring.

Mrs Wallace is a midwife and so 2020 has been a turbulent time for her with the Covid-19 situation.  In the midst of it all they decided to purchase a new build property that would need flooring throughout.

We may have known Phil personally, but we have to admit we checked out the reviews on H2H Flooring before we contacted them.  The reviews were as we suspected they would be… fantastic.

From the first point of contact Phil didn’t disappoint.  His expert help and advice enabled us to pick the perfect flooring that not only met our family needs but looked amazing too.

The Home Survey

As the Wallace’s new home was in the process of being built, we invited them to our showroom to look at and select the flooring they would like, so that we could prepare a quote for them.

Their initial choice, even with our generous NHS discount, unfortunately came in at more than they were comfortable spending.

So, we looked at their dream flooring and put a proposal to them of what we would use to create the special look and feel they required throughout the home.  This came in at the right price and the client was happy to accept the quote.

As sometimes happens with new build properties, the completion of the property was delayed.  We were fully booked moving forward and this job required Phil on it, as a Master Fitter, because the scheme was his vision and required his level of skill to fit.

Of course, as Phil always does, he found the time … to this day we’re not quite sure how!

Having two dogs as well as a family, we needed something that was going to be hard wearing and easy maintenance.  Phil suggested LVT flooring and after inviting us to his showroom we picked the Luvanto range in Harbour Oak.

We were concerned that the same style flooring throughout the bottom floor would look a bit mundane, however, Phil suggested laying the flooring at different

Ground Floor

The ground floor of the property needed some preparation before anything could be laid, as is the case with the vast majority of new builds.  We did this using MUREXIN UK products to ensure the stability and durability throughout.

We then installed Luvanto by QA Flooring Solutions, in Harbour Oak, laying it in different designs in each area to make them unique.

Hallway and Staircase

A real ‘Wow Factor’ was created in the hallway by using Heritage Clifford 01, by Karndean.

Up the stairs we ran a 50oz carpet from Penthouse Quartz 5 stripped into a runner.  We used Stairrods UK Easy Bind in black for the edging and their Jubilee Rods at the bottom of each riser.

The bedrooms were carpeted from Penthouse’s sister company Mayfield who create fantastic soft touch carpets.

However, Connor, who has sensory requirements, required something special in his bedroom.  After research, we suggested using an artificial grass, which we think you’ll agree looks sensational.

We created something bespoke and rather special in the family bathroom using a black Opus plank and white diamonds from the HEXA range from Karndean.  The contrast between the black and white looks simply stunning.

We had some flooring from downstairs left over and so ran this in the en-suite on a simple straight lay.

Phil went above and beyond to make the move easier for our son.  Change is difficult for all children but can be especially difficult for a child with autism.  Phil took the time to listen to what our son wanted his new bedroom to look like.  He wanted grass in his bedroom, so Phil researched how this could be achieved and sourced the best product for the job at an amazing price too.

The Outcome

As you will see from the photographs, the flooring in this house looks stunning.  We were incredibly please with the result – it’s never straightforward designing a scheme when you can’t visit the property, but we think you will agree Phil’s creative vision came off perfectly!

The end result is amazing and has far exceeded our expectations.  The herringbone effect Phil created in the kitchen is stunning.

We wanted the entrance hall to have a wow factor.  Being such a small space, we knew this would be a difficult task.  Phil has done a fantastic job fitting the Heritage range by Karndean.  It has added the wow factor we were looking for and to enhance it further, he fitted a classy bespoke runner on the staircase.

Connor’s artificial grass carpet is amazing and needless to say he loves his bedroom!

Thank you H2H Flooring.
