Maintenance for Polypropylene Carpets
The key to keeping your carpet looking and feeling its best is to take good care of it. Pets, young children, and regular footfall through your home means dust, dirt and spillages are a constant challenge.
Indentations can be avoided by regularly moving your furniture around, laying down rugs, or using coasters to spread the weight of the furniture and avoid direct contact with the carpet.
Dust and Dirt
Regular vacuuming will help reduce any loose dirt and dust from gathering in the carpet pile, which will spread around the house and eventually discolour the carpet.
Tackle spillages as soon as possible to avoid staining the carpet.
Clear up solid or semi-solid substances straight away (with a plastic spatula or utensil) and then make sure you have a clean, white cloth (coloured cloth could leave additional stains), bleach, warm water, and some kitchen towel ready.
Start by blotting away the liquid with some dry kitchen towel or a dry white cloth.
Then, working from the outside of the stain inwards, gently rub the stain using a bleach solution (one-part bleach and ten parts water) on the white cloth. You can add a small amount of additional bleach to the solution, if required, but continue to gently rub the stain and do not over soak the carpet.
Next, blot the area with a clean, damp cloth, until you are happy that the area is clean. Then gently blot the carpet dry with the clean, dry kitchen towel. Leave to dry completely before vacuuming.
